On his very first evening at TOP, Thomas Hurrell had the makings of an exceptional student volunteer. What was notable? Thomas was a 6th grader. Two women at his table asked Sr. Jeanette if they could leave Thomas a tip. She said, “No! Thomas is volunteering to earn a Boy Scout Badge for community service.” Our TOP guests went on, saying: “His manners are impeccable. We felt like we were being served by a waiter in a five-star hotel!”

After Thomas earned his Boy Scout badge, he kept coming back to volunteer. His genuine interest in people and enthusiasm made him an outstanding role model and mentor to new volunteers.
