Meet Ahmad and Michael

One of the beautiful things about Table of Plenty is that we often have a front row seat watching friendships bloom from the simple act of sharing a meal. Michael and Ahmad met here in our TOP dining room. Michael, a former professor at College of San Mateo is intent on helping Ahmad learn English. Ahmad, originally from Iran, has been working very hard under Michael’s watchful eye. Both are true gentlemen who smile graciously and are quick to always thank our volunteers. Ahmad generally enters our dining room first and always saves a spot for Michael. Frequently, after we have served our Thursday evening meal and we are closing down the kitchen, the two can be seen chatting away at a table. Because Michael is losing his eyesight, Ahmad makes sure to walk him home when it is dark outside. We are thrilled that TOP fostered this wonderful friendship and we remember that the importance of community cannot be overlooked.
